DUCKS, BLUEFISH TRADE PITCHERS

Obtain Ron Frazier from Bridgeport for Tim Cain

(Central Islip, NY, February 5, 2001)

Entering their third year in the Atlantic League, the Long Island Ducks announced this morning that they have swapped right-handed pitchers with the Bridgeport Bluefish, sending Tim Cain to Bridgeport for Ron Frazier.

Frazier will join the Ducks for the 2002 season after compiling a 9-8 record with a 4.02 ERA in 28 games (21 starts) with the Bluefish in 2001. He went 16-14 with a 4.33 ERA in two seasons (2000-01) in Bridgeport. Originally drafted by the Yankees in 1990, Frazier spent five years in their minor league system, making it to the triple-A level for parts of the 1994 and 1995 seasons. After spending a year in the Reds system in 1996, Frazier played two years with Waterbury of the Northern League before coming to the Bluefish in 2000.

Tim Cain came to the Ducks as part of a four-player deal with Newark on November 21, 2000. Cain and infielder Jeff Ball came to the Ducks for infielder Tom Hage and pitcher Anthony Shelby.
