The Huntington Arts Council, Inc. is pleased to offer the New York State Council on the Arts Decentralization Regrant Program for 2003. Through this annual program of local grants, the New York State Council on the Arts together with the Huntington Arts Council, Inc. and Members of the Suffolk Decentralization Consortium, is able to support the work of community-based organizations and artists providing arts and cultural activities on a local or neighborhood basis. The program goals are threefold: first, to supply much needed funds to support projects encouraging the use of the grant award; second, to serve as a "seal of approval" of leverage assisting in the search for additional funding; and lastly (most importantly), to provide technical assistance to developing artists and organizations through grant writing workshops, seminars, and one to one consultations.

Not-for-Profit Organizations and individual artists may apply for grants ranging from $500-$5,000 for cultural projects for every community in every artistic discipline. This year the program priorities include a special emphasis toward multidiscipline collaborative projects and innovative partnerships between artists and non-profit organizations.

A series of application workshops will be offered throughout Suffolk County during the month of September (see attached schedule flyers). Workshops will provide an overview to the program followed by step-by-step grant-writing basics. All first-time applicants are required to attend one of the application workshops. Applications will be available at the workshop sties, at the Huntington Arts Council, Inc. office at 213 Main St. Huntington, NY and on our website www.huntingtonarts.org. Applications and technical assistance are also available at the member offices of the Suffolk Decentralization Consortium. They include Babylon Citizens Council on the Arts, Brookhaven Arts and Humanities Council, East End Arts Council, Islip Arts Council, and The Smithtown Township Arts Council.

The deadline for applying for this opportunity is October 11, 2002
