LIRR to Offer “Harvest Hopping” Trip to Hallockville Coincides with Annual Fall Festival |

August 21, 2007 RIVERHEAD, NY - The Long Island Rail Road has created a “Harvest Hopping” getaway for travelers in Nassau and the city interested in visiting the North Fork on Saturday, September 29th. It has been scheduled to coincide with the first day of Hallockville Museum Farm’s two-day 27th Annual Fall Festival. The trip will be by train and bus with service to the Festival site and to Sang Lee Farms (a noted specialty produce farm). The train can be boarded in Penn Station, Woodside, Brooklyn, Jamaica, and Merrick. Tickets are $37 for adults, $29 for children which includes the entry fee to Hallockville. Highlights of the Festival include a free corn maze, traditional craft demonstrations, food, games, music and more. September is the heart of the harvest, one of the most beautiful times of the year to visit Long Island’s agricultural North Fork. It consists of 28 acres of farmland, three residences and two barns dating back to the 1800s, and numerous outbuildings. Located at 6038 Sound Avenue in Riverhead, the facility is open Tuesday to Saturday 11:00 to 4:00 and Sunday from Noon to 3:00. Guided tours of the property are available for $7.00 for adults, $4.00 for children and seniors. Children under 6 are admitted free. Visitors are welcome to walk around the farm at no charge.
