On June 8 Long Islander Bill Roehrich will climb the "Liberty Ridge" route on Mount Rainier  for Mathew Toy, an 8 year old boy battling Burkitt’s Lymphoma.

Mathew Toy is 8 years old. He likes to play basketball with his friends and ride his bike. He has a younger brother and sister, and a dog named Woody. He also has a goal that he is fighting to achieve--Mathew has Burkitt’s lymphoma, and he wants to beat it.

Mount Rainier stands at 14,411 feet (4,392 meters) in Washington State with the city of Seattle in its shadow. Glaciers radiate from the summit and slopes of this episodically active volcano and climbers have come here to test their determination and skill since the 1800's

On June 8, 2002, climber Bill Roehrich intends to achieve a goal of his own, so that he can help Mathew with his. He will climb Liberty Ridge, a steep, physically demanding route to the summit of Mt. Rainier. Crossing glaciers with huge crevasses and ascending the ice cliffs above, Bill will realize his dream. By sponsoring Bill for this worthy cause you can help Mathew realize his dream too. Proceeds will go to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society to fund research in the continuing fight against blood related cancers.  Please sponsor Bill in his "Climb for a Cause" Summit Club:
