June 1, 2002 Smithtown Chamber of
Commerce to The Officers, Board of the Directors and 325 members of the Greater Smithtown Chamber of Commerce, would like to welcome everyone to the The Smithtown Chamber of Commerce 14th Annual Festival Day being held on Sunday, June 09, 2002 from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 P.M., rain or shine. Main Street (Rte. 25/25A) will be closed to traffic from Route 111 west to Maple Ave., (from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.) so that everyone can stroll the Festival freely and safely. The event again promises to be the biggest and best ever. There will be having vendors (selling all types of new merchandise [many handcrafted]), community organizations and local businesses showcasing their crafts, services and wares. Activities for the kids include a petting zoo on the corner of Bank and Main Streets; Pony Rides in Daffy’s parking lot, face painting, free balloons and lots of goodies. Giant inflatable rides on the street between Bank and Main. There is a complete line-up of all kinds of music and free entertainment at Chase Park beginning at 11:00 A.M. and continues nonstop until 5:00 P.M. Be sure to stop at the booth sponsored by the Rotary Club of Smithtown located in front of the Bank of Smithtown and get a free photo I.D. of your children. The Smithtown Gospel Tabernacle Church will be putting on puppet shows at the corner of Lawrence and Main. Treat yourselves to a relaxing massage along Main Street. As always, Smithtown restauranteurs as well as outside food vendors will be serving up a great variety of delicious food including wraps, kettle corn, funnel cakes, ice cream, sea food. The Smithtown Public Library and The Smithtown Township Arts Council will be coordinating activities and entertainment on the library front lawn there will be entertainment and will be joined with The Smithtown Historical Society. The 3rd annual Antique Engine Run and Tractor Pull will be at Rockwell Farm . Stop by the Smithtown Chamber of Commerce booth at the Northwest Corner of Bank and Main and take a chance on raffle prizes donated by our Chamber Members and others. There will a drawing every hour on the hour from noon to 4:00 P.M. Some of the raffle prizes include free dinners; haircuts, free subscriptions, and many other gift certificates good at local merchants and restaurants. The main sponsors of the 14th Annual Festival Day this year are Platinum Sponsors: Branch Financial Services, Inc. Smithtown Health Care Facility; Smithtown Super Stop and Shop and Smithtown Toyota. Gold Sponsors are Bank of Smithtown and Saturn of Smithtown. The Silver Sponsor is St. Catherine’s of Siena Medical Center and Bronze Sponsors are: Green Point Bank, McDonalds/Hunt-Liedtke Co., Molly Blooms, Mountain Creek Water, National Home Finders, North Shore Eye Care, North Fork Bank. The Island Radio 94.3 will be on hand this year with to help us cover the Festival and will be located in front of the Chamber of Commerce booth on the corner of Bank and Main Street. Walk 97.5 will be here with “Walkie Bear” at Tide Park “We are very excited by this year’s Festival. What started as a small fund-raiser for downtown business 14 years ago has blossomed into a yearly event that attracts thousands of people from not only Smithtown but from the entire Island”.
